10 Beauty Tips and Shortcuts

Let’s admit it. Most of the time we are so vain. We always wanted to look good to feel good. However, sometimes our vanity can’t win over our busy schedule. So here’s a handful of beauty tips for the women on the go (uh..oh…some may be applicable to men as sometimes they are more vain than us).

1) The Fastest Way to Dry Nail Polish

Dunk your hands in a bowl of ice-cold water.

“The cold water freeze-dries polish, sealing and hardening it quickly,” says Belinda Rivera, a nail specialist in Austin, Texas.

Allow nails to air-dry for two minutes, then submerge in ice-cold water for three minutes, which is enough time for the polish to harden completely.

Another option: Blast nails with cool air from a hair dryer in between coats. This helps each layer of color dry as you go.

Quick tip: Old nail polish can take forever to dry, since time can turn polish gooey and thick. Toss bottles when the polish begins to change color or separate. At that point, the lacquer has probably thickened and become unusable.

2) The Fastest Way to Minimize a Facial Flush

Place a cool, wet towel on the back of your neck.

“When your face flushes during exercise, it’s a normal physiological response to your body overheating,” says Lydia Evans, a dermatologist in Chappaqua, New York. “Your blood vessels dilate and increase blood flow to the surface of the skin to cool it, which gives it that red appearance.”

A cold towel on the back of the neck constricts those blood vessels, numbs the nerve endings there, and helps lower your body temperature quickly, says Debra Luftman, a cosmetic dermatologist in Beverly Hills.

Splashing cold water on your face will have the same effect.

Quick tip: Carry a spray bottle filled with cold water to the gym. When you feel your face getting warm, spritz it with water. This will help keep the redness to a minimum. Read more…

Great deal for the eyes

At times Che2x would ask for her eyes to be checked. She wanted to wear eyeglasses because she claims there’s something wrong with her eyes. Hmmm…that’s what she gets for being hardheaded. I usually caught her reading while lying with the light facing away from her or writing something with her back against the light which blocks the light from illuminating on what she’s reading or writing.

Since complete prescription eyeglasses are a bit costly, maybe she could have her eyes checked in the optical shop that offers free eye check-up and she can save from her allowance a certain amount so she could avail of the Holiday Glass Frames From Zenni OpticalThe popular online eyeglasses shop that offers as low as $ 8 Complete Rx Eyeglasses so it would not take her long to save for her eyeglasses. This may be a good pair for her.

Sunset over Davao City

The land formation that you can see is Davao City. This was taken by hubby on our way home from a day of island hopping. It’s a golden sunset and not the usual warm one.

New home

Thanks God for the fair day! The clothes I washed yesterday are all dry. Believe me, I don’t even know where to hang the clothes yesterday. All available hangers were used just to save space in the clothesline. Today I spent most of the time working on my new home. Yes, I’ve got a new home. I bought the domain weeks ago and hosted it in my namecheap hosting account but never had the time to work on it until yesterday and today. Yey! I did the whole process of pointing the DNS to my nameserver and installing wordpress for the new domain all by myself. I have actually done it for all the domains hosted in my account. Having that technical know-how in domain purchase and hosting, it is so tempting to get as many domain as I can but the problem would be the content of the sites. Read more…

Today is….

Yes, you got is it right. It’s LAUNDRY day! I don’t have actually a schedule what day I should do the laundry. But since we already have T-O-N-S of it, and I haven’t seriously done the laundry for weeks, I think I should be washing our clothes as often as I can.

I’m worried that Mr. Sun will not come out today because it rained so hard early in the morning. But apparently, he did appeared in the sky though rain clouds are slowly forming again*sigh*. I have loaded the washing machine (yes, I have a washing buddy now! Thanks to Hubby!) and set the timer so I am blogging while the machine is doing
