Homework

I’ve read this in Teacher Mary’s blog and it amused me. When I checked my inbox, I received the same email from Mama Juliet (my former officemate). Now let me see if you’ll also find this one amusing.

homework

(Here’s the reply the teacher received the following day)

Dear Mrs. Jones,

I wish to clarify that I am not now, nor have I ever been, an exotic dancer.
I work at Home Depot and I told my daughter how hectic it was last week before the blizzard hit. I told her we sold out every single shovel we had, and then I found one more in the back room, and that several people were fighting over who would get it. Her picture doesn’t show me dancing around a pole. It’s supposed to depict me selling the last snow shovel we had at Home Depot.

From now on I will remember to check her homework more thoroughly before she turns it in.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Smith

Ruby Tuesday: Chinese decorations

The Filipino-Chinese community went out of their way and organized activities for a grand celebration of the Chinese New Year. Hence, Davao’s Chinatown (which is considered to be the largest in the country in terms of land area) was decorated with Chinese New Year decorations that are believed to bring good luck…and one of those are these…

Care for coffee?

No, thanks. If others find coffee so addicting, for me it’s not. I don’t even drink a cup (except when we were treated by Ate Eunice and Kuya Johanns in Starbucks in Rustan’s, Cebu). The first group of coffee addicts that I met are my fellow operations cadets in Macondray Plastics, Inc. They were drinking coffee like an ordinary water or should I say they drink more cups of coffee than water! We actually call it a vice because they’ve been hooked to it and their day would not be complete without drinking cups of coffee. Read more…

Wrong estimate

Did I already mentioned that Ace and Jovani finally fixed the cable for the TV? It was Monday night last week when they finally did it. Ace sent me to Handyman to buy the cable wire, connector and all others that he need. I was pretty sure it’s shorter than what we really need but he insisted it’s just enough. Yes, just enough for the wire to be laid on the floor going to the TV. I wouldn’t mind if it’s not in the doorway but it is so what a disturbing sight! Since he was absolutely wrong about making the estimate, he was rationalizing “well, we’ll transfer the TV near the cable source”. The TV should actually be placed in that side of the living room but since we don’t have something to occupy the space where it is now, we temporarily placed it there but I cannot move it alone because the furnitures where the speakers were placed are so heavy. Insure the gears

Photography gears are too expensive with high-end camera bodies reaching almost a quarter of a million (???) and camera lens more than 300 thousand. So I could say ours is one of the cheapest. :-) I couldn’t believe it when we met a photographer in one of the local newspapers in the city and said we need a million pesos if we want the super high-end photography gears. Should I have a million pesos, I would rather invest it in the farm rather than spending it on photography gears and accessories unless I am also making big bucks in my hobby. Read more…
