Weekend Snapshot: Thanksgiving

A cousin and his family had a thanksgiving for their new house yesterday. Many relatives arrived from our hometown and seems we are having another family reunion. We had a feast after a short thanksgiving service. This house is one of the many blessings we should be thankful for.

Weekend Snapshot: Ella and her glasses

Ella saw eyeglasses in a Korean RTW store near our church building and asked Carol to buy it as she said she is cute wearing it. After the worship service, Manang Inday and Manong Joey (which she fondly calls Mommy Day and Daddy Jo) treated us to a buffet lunch. Since we are all 10 (including Ella) we took a jeepney because if we’ll take a taxi, we need 2 or 3 taxis. While on the jeepney, she noticed me and Ace on our sunglasses and she immediately said “Mommy saan yung shades ko?” (Mommy, where’s my shades?). She was referring to the clear glasses with black frame she bought earlier. She was so cute with the glasses and she wore it the whole time. Here’s how she looks with her glasses…taken at People’s Park

Another Sunday Without My Pearl Earrings

It’s Sunday again…and I should not be working or blogging because today’s supposed to be my rest day but I need to meet deadliest dealines (actually, it’s past due). Our day went well. As usual, we attended the morning worship service. On the cab, I held my earlobes and realized I forgot to wear my favorite earrings. Haven’t used it for two weeks already because I notice my ears are itching after I put it on. Ace told me not to wear that earrings again as it seemed I am allergic to its gold-plated stud and was like “we’ll get you a pair one of this days.” Really? I hope that “one of this days” will be soon as I need one to be used on his sister’s wedding. Will it be Akoya pearls? I wish!

Anyway, today seemed to be another reunion for us. Mamang and Daddy’s treasures are complete (me, Carol, Che2x, Donald, Ace and Ella). We are expecting to see our cousin’s wife, Manang Inday and niece, Dimple for we only see them on Sundays. But all were shocked to see our cousin, Manong Joey. He’s home for a vacation. :-) After the service, we were treated to a buffet lunch in Iron Horse. It’s not the best resto serving buffet but it’s good enough compared to others. People are flooding in the place and it took us long to get our food because the line is long. The guys had a super heavy lunch while I only ate a few dish and was only full because of the bottomless iced tea. I’ve never been full eating in a buffet resto and this time is not an exception. After lunch walked under the heat of the sun to People’s Park and stayed there for more than an hour or so.

Our next destination was in SM City for the Agro-Trade Fair. This is my favorite every Kadayawan and Araw ng Davao. Though I don’t have that much budget to buy plants, I just love looking around to satisfy my eyes. But before we were able to walk around the trade-fair, we watched a few games of Airsoft enthusiasts from different parts of the region. Two of my high school classmates are part of the Kabacan team. Hence, we  watched their game though I don’t understand the mechanics. Anyway, had to cut this post as I need to be in bed early so that I can get up at 3:30AM for my shift starts at 4. Good night everyone. Hope everybody had a great day.

Day with Ella

Ella, Carol and Donald were here for a couple of days. Carol had a general check-up yesterday and Ella was left in the house with me. We’re all alone in the house and she was instructed not to go out because I cannot look after her. I am on duty from 10AM onwards so I just let Ella watch TV and play her  favorite thing. Before lunch, she asked for money because she’s going to the store to buy some food. Carol and Donald left her 2 doy pack of choco drinks and a bunch of bread and the choco drinks were consumed within 30 minutes. Since I cannot leave in front of the PC, she initiated on getting my purse and handed it to me. But my purse contains coins and it can only buy a piece of candy. I called on a quick break and hurriedly dug on my bag and pockets to check for bills. All I have that time is 500 peso bill so I’m looking for a smaller one. I finally found 50 peso bill inside my bag’s pocket. I handed it to her and she immediately went to the store. After 10 minutes, I am quite worried because she’s not yet back. A few seconds and I can already hear her voice calling out Puto and Maya. I was relieved. I asked her what took her so long and she said “I was in the grasses looking for the grass I used to play with”. A few minutes more and she’s done with her food from the store. She started on playing and asked permission to play the real “kitchen” thing. She used to play with the real tupperwares, glasses, laddle, and other kitchen utensils. I just looked at her as if saying “no” but she instantly said “because you didn’t bought my kitchen toys that you promised yet.” Waaa! She must have a sharp memory. It’s been months when I told her I will buy her the said toys and she hasn’t forgotten it yet. Hence, I allowed her to play the real thing. For the whole day, she went to the store thrice until the last cent of her 50 pesos was consumed. When she went to the store to get her change (because she forgot to get it), she came back telling me “tita, I will buy cards (those cards with photos in it). I already picked my choice.” Hehe. She just came back to tell me she will get one.

The day with Ella is complete. She even did *pooo*. She was trying to turn on the faucet and called me in when her little hands cannot turn it on. The house is literally messy but she did manage to put back her “toys” when she’s done. Then she went out and play with the dogs. She’s already done playing with the cat in the morning so it’s the doggie’s time in the afternoon. She got Maya’s leash and walk her outside the yard. After an hour, she was back inside the house and took a late afternoon nap until Carol and Donald got home.

Durian

As I have mentioned in my other blog, we were in Philippine Eagle Center yesterday. Obviously, our Air Supply date was cancelled*sigh*. We have a great time though. While in Philippine Eagle, Manang Inday was craving for durian but we haven’t seen any in the fruit vendors outside the center. So we scouted for Durian vendors along the road. Too bad that we haven’t found any. Thus, we headed to Magsaysay Park for Durian trip. Whew! Prices of Durian are as high as the mountains.hehehe. But since Manang really craves for it, we had one fruit and then another one. Finally we are full and headed to People’s Park to burn the calories we have eaten and because Dimple have never been there. After a short walk, we went to Victoria Plaza to meet with PILs for our Father’s Day dinner. Originally the plan was to have a dinner at Buffet Plaza but since we are in a hurry because FIL will be leaving @ 9ish for Dumaguete City via Cagayan de Oro City and MIL wanted to have seafoods, we decided to have dinner at Ram’s. I and Ace went ahead of them and was surprised that Ram’s is not existing anymore. Hay, where are we going now? If we’ll go to other resto’s, for sure it will take us long to finish dinner. Since it’s the case, we tried Whaw…just ate and went home. The food is fair though but not as good as other resto’s of its kind. We’ll just have fine dining next time. I was about to sleep when I remembered my assignment but I am drained. Compared to a battery, I am empty. I need to recharge so that I could do my assignments and look for a sample of GPS in the net when I wake up.
