Free trip package to New Orleans

Shrimps! I am craving for shrimps but just kept it to myself. I don’t want H to know it because it’s quite expensive. I just watched chef to go yesterday to satisfy my cravings but that made me crave more. Anyway, I am into looking at some recipes in the internet and have come across this site for the best Americans seafoods. The site holds a contest of seafood dishes from the best chefs in different states. Among the 5 dishes to vote in, I love Louisiana Shrimp and Andouille Cassoullet by Chef Brian Landry of Louisiana for the most obvious reason….I love shrimps a lot! It’s my most favorite seafood whatever way it will be cooked. The cook off is a great way to showcase each chef’s specialty and the delicacy of each own state. I wanted to learn cooking the shrimps that way and enjoy just how delicious it is. I’m drolling at this time!

Talking about doing the recipe at home, I would love to do it so that we could also experience fine dining at home. I hope we could go to the market one day and buy fresh shrimps for this. Its better to use domestic seafood as it is fresh and abundant. I’m sure H will love it! Anyway, to know what I am talking about, visit http://www.greatamericanseafoodcookoff.com and vote for the best recipe of your choice. I am sure you would also want to learn doing the recipe at home. Cast your vote and have the chance to win a trip to New Orleans package. Have fun!

Capresso coffee maker

I and Ace are not coffee drinkers. We can absolutely live without those addicting drinks.:-) When we were in Cebu City, coffee shops have sprouted like mushrooms but we didn’t dare trying any of it. After more than a year, coffee shops has become a good business around here. More and more people have become coffee shop goer. For years, we’ve been to 2 coffee shops for coffee but for business purposes because it’s one of the convenient place where you can talk about business with some associates. When we were in Cebu last year, Eunice and Johanns treated us in Starbucks. Since we are not coffee lovers, I and Ace shared in one cold coffee and we almost couldn’t say “all the way down”, the words Mamang would say when we were drinking milk during my childhood days. We had a hard time drinking all what’s in our plastic glass. Lately, seems Ace wanted to try some coffee shops here. I hope he’ll just give it a try and not be addicted to it because going to coffee shops is a very expensive habit and addiction or else, will end up getting a capresso coffee maker so that we can make our own brewed coffee here at home. :-)

Durian

As I have mentioned in my other blog, we were in Philippine Eagle Center yesterday. Obviously, our Air Supply date was cancelled*sigh*. We have a great time though. While in Philippine Eagle, Manang Inday was craving for durian but we haven’t seen any in the fruit vendors outside the center. So we scouted for Durian vendors along the road. Too bad that we haven’t found any. Thus, we headed to Magsaysay Park for Durian trip. Whew! Prices of Durian are as high as the mountains.hehehe. But since Manang really craves for it, we had one fruit and then another one. Finally we are full and headed to People’s Park to burn the calories we have eaten and because Dimple have never been there. After a short walk, we went to Victoria Plaza to meet with PILs for our Father’s Day dinner. Originally the plan was to have a dinner at Buffet Plaza but since we are in a hurry because FIL will be leaving @ 9ish for Dumaguete City via Cagayan de Oro City and MIL wanted to have seafoods, we decided to have dinner at Ram’s. I and Ace went ahead of them and was surprised that Ram’s is not existing anymore. Hay, where are we going now? If we’ll go to other resto’s, for sure it will take us long to finish dinner. Since it’s the case, we tried Whaw…just ate and went home. The food is fair though but not as good as other resto’s of its kind. We’ll just have fine dining next time. I was about to sleep when I remembered my assignment but I am drained. Compared to a battery, I am empty. I need to recharge so that I could do my assignments and look for a sample of GPS in the net when I wake up.

loves Dim Sum? try this out…

I was raised in the province and I am not that familiar with Chinese cuisine  except for the siopao and spring rolls. When I went to Cebu city for my first job hunting after my graduation in college, I was treated by a friend at Ding Qua Qua along Mango Avenue. According to her, they serve the best dimsum in town. Not familiar with their menu, Ate Eunice ordered for me. She ordered steamed rice (it is not the usual steamed rice), siomai, and stuffed shrimp to name a few.

The steamed rice (placed in a white porcelain dish with cover, larger and taller than a usual mug) is composed of diced pork, shrimps, green peas mixed in the cooked rice with some sauce. It is eaten using fork (if you don’t know how to use chopsticks like me) right from its container and it tastes so great. The siomai is so delicious especially with their special sauce/dipping. Stuffed shrimp is made of grounded shrimp formed in a ball (like the size of a siomai) with one tail of shrimp protruding. It’s super delicious and I loved it!

The nice thing about these restaurants aside from the food they serve is the service itself (but you have to wait in line before you can take your seat especially during peak hours). You may be amazed at how they do things inside the restaurant (everybody has their specific role) from getting your orders, serving the food up, to billing you out (the in-charge will just count the empty dishes and presto, you have your bill).

Should you be interested to try dimsum in Cebu, try it out in Ding Qua Qua, Ding How and Harbour City. In Davao, they have Little Ding How along V. Mapa St., and Little Kowloon along Roxas Ave. If we have the “same” taste buds (like my hubby), you’ll surely love it. Try any of their menu and you’ll never regret visiting the said restaurants. You’ll have a great meal at a very reasonable price.
