Competence isn’t all that we need
2010 National Election is over and we already have the partial results. I am just happy that my bet for presidency is leading but quite anxious because my vice president isn’t. I do hope they both will win. I had enough of those ridiculous remarks against my bet but it is obvious that people like him more than others. He may not be experienced. He may not have a long list of all the bills that he passed during his term in the senate. He may not have a long list in his educational background but I believe he is the right person for the position. If others are looking at the curriculum vitaé of the candidates, not me. Afterall, this is not an employment screening. Regardless if you’re a university drop out or a housewife, you can run the nation if people want you.
Competence is not a big deal in politics. What became of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo? She is more competent (intellectually and educationally) than former President Joseph Estrada. She made her way to have Estrada ousted from his seat so that she can govern and show her competence. Did I say competence? Yes, Arroyo’s competence in CORRUPTING people’s money. She is so knowledgeable on the ways to get money from the government. She is very intelligent to think of BIG TIME projects that her family especially the first gentleman could benefit. Projects that costs BILLIONS of pesos with kickbacks for the Arroyo family and her “alipores” that also cost billions. GMA is intelligent enough to do anything for her to remain in power despite of the fact that people are not happy with her administration. Sa sobrang competent ni Gloria, kayang-kaya nyang paikutin ang mga tao.
Do we need another “brilliant” man in the Malacañang? Do we need another “competent” and experienced president? I would rather go for a person who have no track record of corruption. Who has been brought up and taught with good manners (that is very important in being a leader) and has a kind heart for the people, who don’t use the less fortunate to win the sympathy of others. That’s all we need for now. We’ve had so much of Gloria’s competence. It’s time that we have a president with a different perspective.
